Ferran Torres joins FC Barcelona from Manchester City for 55m Euros

(Football news) Manchester City may be doing well in the Premier League but they're about to lose Ferran Torres to Barcelona. Ferran Torres is set to join Barcelona in the January transfer window The transfer is with a guaranteed payment of £46.7million, with further additional clauses amounting to more than £8m. The £6m of the transfer fee will be received immediately, while the rest £8.5m will be triggered if Torres is sold by Barca in the future.

Barcelona's financial debts are well known but thanks to a £508m loan they have secured from Goldman Sachs, they can secure the move for Ferran Torres. This fee is to be paid off over 35 years with a five-year grace period to help them restructure their finances. Despite having some cash reserves to help fund this deal, Barcelona could never have managed to sign Torres without the loan from Goldman Sachs. It is believed that the structuring of the deal for City may be over a longer period of time. According to Spanish media they believe that City could be quite generous and allow Barca to pay smaller installments over a period of time. .

Xavi doesn't have a centre-forward he can rely on and is leaving a gaping hole in the forward line. Torres might be the missing piece in Xavi’s struggling Barcelona team because he wants a forward who can open up the pitch, is fast and a good finisher as all these attributes the City man has. With Ansu Fati injured, Sergio Aguero having retired and a mix of players who are out-of-form and out-of-position in Xavi's desired 4-3-3 formation, Torres will fit into this team like a glove. Ever since Luis Suárez left for Atletico Madrid, Barca have been begging for out and out striker which Ferran Torres will hopefully fulfill.

Guardiola says it’s not quite a done deal but the two clubs aren’t too far apart now. “It is not official yet. I know they are negotiating and that it is close. That is all. When the clubs announce it, it will be done.I want happiness in my players. If you are not happy, you have to leave. We are not a club where presidents and CEO say no you have to stay. The players and clubs have to agree, this is business. But if the player wants to leave, they go.”
