(Football news) The All India Football Federation (AIFF) Disciplinary Committee has announced that FC Goa player Jorge Ortiz will be sentenced to a two match suspension and a INR 50,000 fine for ‘committing serious misconduct’ and charged with ‘violent conduct’ during FC Goa’s match against Bengaluru FC on Saturday, 11th December.
The player has since apologized and stated ‘no harm was intended’ towards Bengaluru FC player Suresh Singh Wangjam in his written reply to the AIFF Disciplinary Committee. The verdict was announced on Sunday, 19th December after an additional hearing. The player has already served the first of his two match ban due to automatic suspension after receiving a red card and will be unavailable for selection when FC Goa faces Odisha FC on Friday, 24th December. He will be back in the squad for FC Goa’s match against ATK Mohun Bagan on Wednesday, 29th December.
The AIFF Disciplinary Committee has also fined ATK Mohun Bagan’s physiotherapist Luis Alfonso Redondo Martinez with a sum of INR 40,000. Martinez was charged with a similar offense and has been given a ‘stern warning’ for his actions but no match suspension has been imposed.
