(Football news) However, they lacked a decisive finish until Everton’s Kobe Evere put the visitors ahead with a well-constructed play in the 41st minute. Evere deftly past the guards as he entered the penalty area through the left channel and put the ball into the net.

Since then, Everton have enjoyed a great, free attacking move. They regularly broke through the RFYC defence and extended their defensive line by applying pressure from the flanks. They didn’t send many side balls into the box and focused on breaking RFYC’s formation from the middle.

Khalid Junkpata made the most of the short time, hitting from the left flank, creating a downward deflection and slamming the ball cleanly into the bottom right corner, doubling Everton’s lead. With 20 minutes remaining, Kieran Driscoll’s side had a two-point lead and almost secured three points. Everton have made a spectacular comeback in the league after losing 4-0 to Wolverhampton Wanderers in the opening game of the season. They bounced back on Saturday with a comfortable 1-0 win against Sudeva Delhi FC, producing perhaps their most impressive performance of the night.

They always tried to push forward from the start and endured with two goals that virtually decided the fate of the match. To RFYC’s credit, they have been relentlessly trying to shrink Everton’s lead. They moved quickly from the flanks, but their final attacks were often blocked by opposing defenses. Sanan Mohamed, who came on for them in last week’s 1-0 win over Sudeba, was once again in the right place at the right time.

Sanan continued to push to help RFYC regain the ball, diving into a long ball from his own midfield in stoppage time and sending the ball past Everton goalkeeper Dylan Graham to score his second goal of the tournament. Everton and RFYC will next face West Ham United and ATK Mohun Bagan in Group B on Thursday 25 May.
