(Tennis news) Emma Raducanu will feature at the Miami Open after receiving a wildcard entry for the singles tournament. The British tennis star previously featured at the Australian Open earlier this year, reaching the second round before losing to Coco Gauff. Raducanu was scheduled to compete at the ATX Open in Austin, Texas but was forced to withdraw due to tonsilitis. Taking to social media, Raducanu issued a statement that read “I’m sorry to have to withdraw from the ATX Open. I am currently suffering from tonsillitis and am unable to compete this week. Thank you to the tournament for the great hospitality here in Austin.”

Raducanu competed in last season’s Miami Open, receiving a bye in the second round and subsequently lost to Katerina Siniakova 3-6, 6-4, 7-5. Posting on social media, the 20 year old said “Hey guys, it’s Emma here. I’m really looking forward to coming to Miami for the Miami 2023 Open and I look forward to seeing you there.” Raducanu has had a number of coaches in the last few years, with her former coach Dmitry Tursunov saying that he stopped negotiations as he didn’t feel there was a solid commitment according to his terms.

Speaking about his professional relation with Raducanu, Tursunov said “I stopped the negotiations. I felt like the negotiations went too long. Too far that wasn’t a solid commitment, not on the terms that I liked. We started to negotiate over things that were so trivial and insignificant in my mind that it wouldn’t have worked. I didn’t feel secure enough. I didn’t feel like it’s a serious setup. I didn’t feel like it’s gonna be a long-term relationship. I felt like at any point it can break over something insignificant and I could have been wrong, maybe I had PTSD, you know, from previous relationships.”
