Ebadot Hossain ruled out of T20 World Cup

(Cricket News) The Bangladeshi pacer, Ebadot Hossain has been ruled of the T20 World Cup that is set to be played in June this year. He has not managed to regain full fitness and will still take some time and hence will miss the big ICC event.

Ebadot has been out of the game since the Asia Cup last year. He suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the series against Afghanistan at home in July 2023. He had to undergo a surgery for the same and has been under rehabilitation post that.

The pacer was confident with his return before the World Cup, but has failed to do so. “I am hopeful that I will return before the World Cup or else why I am working so hard? The way everything is going is good. The biggest thing is the way the medical team is supporting me and I am doing a very good rehab.”

”I am regaining my strength. I am working on the sand field and working on strength. I am hopeful something good will happen in future,” Ebadot had told reporters on January 13 after he had completed a rehabilitation session at the BCB’s academy premises.

Bangladesh Cricket Board’s chief physician Debashish Chowdhury confirmed that Ebadot won’t make it to the World Cup, even as the pacer informed the media that he was eyeing to make a comeback in the showpiece event.

Debashish said that there is no way for the right-arm pacer to make a comeback before the T20 World Cup. “No way (Ebadot can make a comeback before the World T20). We are not even thinking about it,” Debashish said

“It does not go (his comeback) in that time frame (before the World Cup). It takes eight to 12 months but at least you need 10 months. He was operated in December, so it will be at least October when he can make a comeback. He can make a comeback a bit earlier but certainly not in the World T20,” he said. However, Ebadot had undergone surgery in August last year.

Debashish on the other hand informed that they are hopeful of the return of injured Soumya Sarkar and Taijul Islam. They are likely to be available before the series against Zimbabwe. Soumya and Taijul both suffered knee injuries while fielding in the ODI series against Sri Lanka.
