Courtois, Benzema & De Bruyne nominated for UEFA Player of the year

(Football news) UEFA have announced Kevin De Bruyne, Karim Benzema and Thibaut Courtois as the three nominees of the UEFA Player of the year award. Robert Lewandowski, Luka Modric, Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah, Kylian Mbappe, Vinicius Jr, Virgil Van Dijk, Bernardo Silva, Filip Kostic, Lorenzo Pellegrini, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho are the rest of the top 15 who will vote for the winner. The ceremony will take place on the 25th of August.

After the season Benzema has had, he is the clear favourite to win all the individual awards. The two Belgians will most likely have to settle for a podium finish. Being nominated for this award as a goalkeeper in itself is a big achievement and it is definitely much deserved. Real Madrid won the La Liga, Champions League and the Spanish Super Cup in what was a scintillating season. Kevin De Bruyne also had a very good season with Manchester City as he helped them win the Premier League and took them to the UCL semi final where they lost to Benzema and Courtois's Real Madrid. 

Carlo Ancelotti, Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola are the nominees for the manager of the year award. Klopp won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup with Liverpool and also reached the UCL final and finished 2nd in the Premier League. Pep Guardiola won the Premier League and also reached the UCL semi final. Carlo Ancelotti in his first season since returning to Real Madrid won the La Liga and UCL.
