Chelsea and Tottenham face off in epic blockbuster at Stamford Bridge

(Football news) Having won their first games of the season, Chelsea will play host to Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge on Sunday with both sides looking to maintain their winning form. Spurs convincingly defeated Southampton 4-1 while Chelsea had a narrow 1-0 win over Everton thanks to a penalty by Jorginho. While the Blues looked far from convincingly, Thomas Tuchel’s focus was on the three points as his squad is currently undergoing a transition with players coming in and going out of the club.

Tottenham look like a completely different team under manager Antonio Conte and if they continue this form could compete against Manchester City and Liverpool for the Premier League title. The minimum expectation from the club would be a top 3 finish and some form of silverware at the end of the season with the likes of Son Heung-min and Harry Kane being instrumental.

In team news, Tuchel might consider giving Marc Cucurella his first start while Ben Chilwell continues to recover from a serious knee injury. Chelsea could stick to the central midfield pairing of Jorginho and N’Golo Kanta while Kai Havertz is being provided competition from Armando Broja. Kalidou Koulibaly is expected to make a start this Sunday despite being withdrawn due to a cramp last week but Mateo Kovacic will miss out due to a knee injury. As for Spurs, Antonio Conte is expected to field the same starting lineup from their win over Southampton. A draw seems the most likely result in this fixture given the quality in both the teams.
