(Football news) Chelsea finally won a game last weekend as they defeated Bournemouth 3-1 away from home. The win guaranteed their survival which was looking in slight danger. Now they host Nottingham Forest at Stamford Bridge in search of back to back wins. Chelsea will be looking to end the season with some momentum after which thet can start fresh under a new manager. Nottingham Forest are currently just above the relegation zone and even 1 point will be very crucial for them. They have Arsenal at home and Crystal Palace away after this so it will be very difficult for them to survive.
Chelsea are still missing Reece James, Marc Cucurella, Kalidou Koulibaly, Mason Mount and Armando Broja. Ben Chilwell is the latest player added to the injured list as he suffered a blow against Bournemouth. Wesley Fofana who missed that game is doubtful for this game as well. Nottingham Forest also have a long list of absentees with Dean Henderson, Chris Wood, Scott McKenna, Giulian Biancone, Omar Richards, Neco Williams, Jonjo Shelvey, Jack Colback and Emmanuel Dennis all injured. Serge Aurier and Renan Lodi are doubts while Gustavo Scarpa could return to the bench having returned to training.
Chelsea’s season has been catastrophic but next season is promising with the amount of talent they have in their ranks. A new manager at the helm who can take these world class players and make them a team will be necessary. As per reports Mauricio Pochettino is the front runner for the job. Luis Enrique is also another option while Julian Nagelsmann is out of the running. This will be Frank Lampard’s last few games as Chelsea manager and he will be keen to leave on a good note.
