Carlos Alcaraz set to face Denis Shapovalov in the French Open

Carlos Alcaraz the No.1 seed will play seed No.28 Denis Shapovalov for a place in the 4th round of the French Open

(Tennis Open) In the second round of the Paris tournament, the World No. 1 defeated Taro Daniel of Japan in four sets. Alcaraz got off to an explosive start, winning the opening set without dropping a single point. However, Daniel even the playing field by winning the second game 6-3 as a result of a dip in level.

However, Alcaraz immediately reclaimed command of the situation, reasserting his dominance in the match by dropping just three games over the course of the remaining games. Currently, he is 8-2 in Roland Garros and 32-3 overall.

After the win Alcaraz said, “ It is amazing to play here. I have felt the support on the first day and today as well. I am really happy to play on Philippe-Chatrier, feeling the energy and the support.”

While everything was going on, the 32nd-ranked Shapovalov defeated Matteo Arnaldi in four sets in the second round of the Roland Garros tournament. It was the first time since the Australian Open that he had won back-to-back matches. Before the Italian evened things up, the left-hander scored the game’s opening goal. Though he fell in the first round last year, Shapovalov improved, dropping three games in each of the following two sets to get to 9-9 on the year and 4-4 at Roland Garros.

Carlos Alcaraz and Denis Shapovalov will be playing for the 1st time.

Predictions

Alcaraz and Shapovalov both have classic baselining attributes and similar gamestyles, including a strong serve, strong hitting off either flank, and fluid mobility. The Spaniard stands out, though, because of his greater consistency, experience, and pedigree, particularly on clay, where he has a 61-13 record and seven trophies to his credit. In addition, this year, with a 22-2 record, three titles were won.

With a 31-26 record at Roland Garros, where he is known for his distinctive single-handed backhand, Shapovalov can be a handful, but his biggest problem is consistency. In light of Alcaraz’s current form, particularly on the red dirt, the Spaniard ought to take the victory.
