The Juventus Women’s First Team will play Inter Milan in the Derby D’Italia tomorrow, October 20, at the Arena Civica in Milan. The team will be looking to bounce back from their Women’s Champions League loss to Bayern Munich. Kickoff is at 12:00 p.m. (CEST).
“The performance against Bayern was there; it’s evident that you have to play flawlessly to score against teams this caliber; we didn’t accomplish that, but we still played well. We must be more cautious when defending set pieces and making the final pass moving forward if we want to get even better. Not to mention a little misfortune, like hitting the post or [Amalie] Vangsgaard’s shot falling barely wide. The positive aspect is that we demonstrated our ability to function as a cohesive team by thoroughly reviewing and analyzing the game together. Overall, it wasn’t a bad showing.
“When you lose, all you want to do is get even and prove that it was an isolated incident by playing another match as soon as possible. It’s also a crucial game against a title contender—Inter is one of the many contenders in this highly competitive competition, which has at least three or four teams.
Both Inter and we have a strong team, but Inter has the significant advantage in this match because they trained for it during a “typical” week without depleting their energy, particularly mentally. Wednesday’s experiences are both the difficult and beautiful part of being fortunate enough to compete in prestigious competitions like the Champions League.
We know that one of the things that will always enable us to play our game, against anyone and thus also against Inter, is our energy on the field on Sunday. This is a trait that is truly becoming ingrained in our DNA.
