(Tennis news) For the 2023 Halle Open, which will mark the tournament’s 30th anniversary, Roger Federer travelled to Germany to grace the court. He was presented with a bouquet of flowers and a memento inside the OWL arena as a tribute to his incredible feat of winning 10 championships in Germany. The amazing career record of 69 victories and only 8 losses in Halle belongs to the 20-time Grand Slam winner. From 2003 to 2006, in 2008, from 2013 to 2015, in 2017, and 2019. He also won in 2017 and 2019.

Roger Federer has said that tennis is blooming and continually changing during his time at the Halle Open. He continued by commending the current crop of athletes for their contributions to the sport and said how much he was appreciating all they were doing.

“It’s good times in tennis and I always said that tennis is so great at always keeping on evolving. So [I am a] big fan of tennis and what all the players are doing is absolutely fantastic,” he said.

The 41-year-old was praised for his remarks on social media on June 22 by German tennis icon Boris Becker, who described him as always being a “class act.”

“Roger always class act!” Becker captioned his Instagram story.

Recently, Roger Federer has been transparent about his physical state following his retirement and the chance that he will take part in upcoming exhibition matches.

The former World No. 1 stated to the media following the ceremony at the Halle Open honouring him that his present knee problem prevents him from taking part in any exhibition events. However, he disclosed that he is committed to recovery and is upholding a strict exercise plan to return his body to peak condition.

“If the body was in top shape, I would probably play a few exhibitions. I still go to the gym four or five times a week and try to get my body back into shape with my knee. That’s why I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything,” he said.

Roger Federer made an official retirement from tennis in September 2022 at the Laver Cup. His choice was influenced by a protracted battle with a knee problem.
