Kimmich’s wonder goal rescues Bayern with last-gasp equaliser against Koln
Ellyes Skhiri scores against Bayern

(Football news) Bayern Munich’s talisman Joshua Kimmich scored in the 90th minute as he rescued a 1-1 draw against FC Koln on Tuesday but they are still four points clear at the top. The German champions are chasing a record-extending 11th league title. Bayern had all the possession in the match but were far less effective than their opponents who looked destined  for the three points courtesy of Ellyes Skhiri’s fourth minute volley at the far post.

Kimmich scored with a brilliant long-range effort to lift Bayern from a spot of bother as they have now drawn their last two league match. The Bavarians giants had also drawn 1-1 against RB Leipzig last week as Leipzig close the gap to the defending champions when they ran out 6-1 winners against Schalke 04, and are in second place with 32 points. While Eintracht Frankfurt are third on 30 points. FC Koln were much sharper in the first half and were a step faster to the ball, keeping the mighty Bayern well away from their box.

The Bavarians recently sacked goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic on Monday who was Manuel Neuer’s best friend as he fell out with Julian Nagelsmann. Bayern in the second half came out all guns blazing as they completely dominated after the break. Despite the dominance Bayern could not find a way to score for much of the second half. Thomas Muller had their best chance but Marvin Schwabe made a brilliant save in the 80th-minute when he tipped his header over the bar. The keeper was finally beaten, when Kimmich’s missile of a shot went in off the bar in the last possible minute.

“We had to change things after the second half and we dominated after the break. Two points from the last two matches is too little for us,” said Bayern coach Julian Nagelsmann. “We had chances but we had to use at least one of them. Cologne defended with many players in the last 25 minutes. It is good to have 15 shots towards goal but we are happy when we start scoring more than just one.”
