Barcelona Rejects Pedri Move

Manchester City has notified Pep Guardiola that talks with FC Barcelona have begun in an attempt to sign one of the top players that manager Hans-Dieter Flick now has at his disposal.  Unfortunately for the English side, Deco and Joan Laporta replied emphatically no at first, making it quite evident that they have no plans to sell their valuable asset.

Because of their seemingly endless budget, the City management is accustomed to getting their way at the Etihad Stadium, particularly when it comes to signings.  But even this financial might won’t be sufficient to entice Pedri González to go.  To nobody’s surprise, the youthful midfielder has become a top target and has captured Guardiola’s interest.

The question surrounding Pedri’s future appears to have been resolved when he recently extended his contract with Barcelona.  He chose to sign a new, long-term contract even though he was scheduled to become a free agency in 2026—a circumstance that several teams were keen to take advantage of.  This hasn’t stopped the City administration from contacting Laporta and Deco to talk about the possible cost of the gifted midfield player, though.  But the answer was unmistakable.

Laporta and Deco have made it clear to Guardiola and City that Pedri won’t be going this season.  Even an incredible offer of €200 million wouldn’t make them change their minds.

In addition, Pedri has not expressed any intention of leaving Barcelona, where he is happy and confident in his ability to make history and win multiple championships.  The young international is considered completely irreplaceable by Laporta and Deco.  Since it is now hard to locate a suitable successor for his talents, he is one of the few celebrities they will not swap for any amount of money.
