Barcelona host Real Sociedad in the Copa Del Rey quarter finals

Barcelona will look to continue their good form as they aim to reach the Copa Del Rey semi finals
Barcelona Vs Real Sociedad

(Football news) Barcelona have won 9 and drawn 2 of their last 11 games in all competitions. They are currently 3 points clear on top of the La Liga and have recently won the Spanish Super Cup. In the Copa Del Rey, the Blaugrana have made it to the quarter finals but now it is time for their first real challenge as they take on Real Sociedad at the Nou Camp.

La Real have been really good this season as they are currently 3rd on the La Liga table 7 points clear of 4th place Atletico Madrid. They beat fellow La Liga club Mallorca in the Round of 16. Sociedad have won all of their matches after the World Cup which shows why this wouldn’t be an easy task for Barcelona.

Barcelona will have Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres available as their La Liga suspension doesn’t affect the Copa Del Rey. Andreas Christensen came off at half time on the weekend and he is a doubt for this fixture. Ronald Araujo and Frenkie De Jong didn’t play against Getafe so the pair should be back and fresh for this clash. La Real on the other hand have a long injury list as they will be without Alex Sola, Mikel Merino, Ander Guevara, Andoni Gorosabel, Jon Pacheco, Sadiq Umar, Martín Merquelanz, Mohamed-Ali Cho and David Silva. The good news is that Takefusa Kubo is back and fit enough to start the game.

Real Soceidad will have to put pressure on Barcelona straight away. They will have to stop the home side from scoring early as that would only make things difficult for them. Barcelona just have to keep things simple and play the way they have been playing. The front three of Robert Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele and Raphinha will be very important for them. As for La Real Mikel Oyarzabal will be the main man, Alexander Sorloth. Barcelona will most likely have the bulk of possession while Real Sociedad will be looking to counter attack.
