At the Sail Goa All India Nationals, ENGN-backed Katya Coelho, IQFoiler & Windsurfer wins the gold medal

ENGN supported At the Sail Goa All India National, which took place between April 19 and April 23, 2023, at Hawai Beach in Donapaula Goa, Katya Coelho took home the gold medal in the IGFoil division

(Sports news) The Goa Yachting Association organised the competition. On the final two days of the competition, winds as high as 14 knots were observed throughout the race. Over the course of five days, there were four slalom races and eight course races performed in the sailing championship.

In 2014, Kathya Coelho, the sole female windsurfer from India, competed in the Youth Olympics and has since topped the majority of the podiums in the nation. She earned two bronze medals in the 2015 Asian Open Championship in addition to her ten national gold titles. Additionally, she was the first female surfer from India to compete in the Asian Games in 2018.

She also won a silver Asian medal in 2022, making it the first international medal won by an Indian in iQFoil. In the most recent Asian Games Selection Trials for the IQ Foil Category conducted at INWTC Mumbai, Katya won gold at Senior Nationals, Yachting Association of India, and all three rounds. Later this year, the young IQFoiler will compete in the Asian Games, 2023, as India’s representative.
