(Cricket news) India Women lost the recent home T20I series against Australia 4-1. The women in blue had their fair share of good moments but at crunch time the World Champions always turn the tide around. With just 2 months left for the World Cup India women don’t have a head coach and a bowling coach which is bizzare in every sense. Head coach Ramesh Powar was transferred to the NCA as the spin coach in the men’s department without reason.
The situation is far from ideal as far as the development of the team is concerned. Before the World Cup India will play a tri series in South Africa against the hosts and West Indies. By that time, the BCCI needs to appoint a bowling coach and a head coach.
The one thing that always seems to let India Women down is the fielding. The last match of the series in particular was disappointing as India gave away a lot of runs in over throws. The team tends to drop important catches at crucial times which is something which costs them a lot. The bowling in the powerplay is often up to the mark but in the middle overs and especially at the death the bowling goes haywire. The Indian bowling line-up is relatively inexperienced but at the same time skipper Harmanpreet Kaur is yet to figure out her combination.
When it comes to the batting India women don’t lack quality. It is just that they do tend to fall like a house of cards when things get a little complicated. Harmanpreet Kaur said after the series how the morale in the dressing room is always high and optimistic which is good news. The upcoming tri-series will be a great indication of things to come in the World Cup. India lost the final against Australia at the Commonwealth games and the last T20 World Cup. This time around they will want to break the trophy drought and win the trophy.
