Ancelotti Hits Back at Tebas’s Remarks

Javier Tebas, the president of La Liga, recently called Real Madrid a “crybaby club.” Carlo Ancelotti has responded to this accusation.  Ancelotti’s comments coincide with a continuing controversy over officiating calls that has exposed divisions between the league and the club.

Real Madrid’s complaints have been widely known, especially after they lost to Espanyol 1-0 not too long ago.  The champions believe that match referees are treating them unfairly because of a contentious incident in that match involving Carlos Romero, who avoided a red card for a foul on Kylian Mbappé. La Liga has strongly refuted this accusation.

Tebas has mainly downplayed Real Madrid’s worries, even though the team filed formal objections with the Spanish Football Federation earlier this month.  When asked if they were the “crying team,” Ancelotti responded, “Tebas talks too much about Real Madrid.”  Since I’ve been here, remarks like these have shown a lack of respect for many Real Madrid fans.  He ought to concentrate on resolving the more urgent problems in Spanish football, including officiating.

Real Madrid is tied with leaders Barcelona for second place in La Liga despite the controversy.  In May, they will play their most formidable opponents, with Atletico Madrid behind them by just one point.
