Mumbai Reaches 48th Ranji Final: Dominating Performance

(Cricket News) On the third day of their semi-final at the Bandra Kurla Complex, Mumbai defeated Tamil Nadu by an innings and 70 runs, securing their 48th Ranji Trophy final. Starting on March 10, the Wankhede Stadium will host the championship game.

Mumbai finished their first innings with 378, with a commanding lead of 232, having resumed the day at 353 for 9. Overnight, Tanush Kotian, who was undefeated at 74, extended his last-wicket stand of 88 with Tushar Deshpande. It appeared for a while that Kotian, the number ten, would reach his second hundred runs in a row. However, Deshpande was fired by Washington Sundar, leaving him stranded on 89.

Tamil Nadu, in response, got off to another terrifying start. After smashing a century on Sunday, Shardul Thakur easily got rid of N Jagadeesan and Sai Sudharsan. Mohit Avasthi, on the other hand, had Washington trailing to make it 10 for 3.

Baba Indrajith, assisted by the middle order, mounted a resistance. Before Avasthi sent him back, he hit nine fours in his seventy, while no other TN batter reached 25.

TN were 153 for 6 when Kotian bowled R Sai Kishore during the first tea break. Left-arm spinner Shams Mulani went through the lower order after the interval to take the final four wickets. Due to his 104 wickets during the match, Shardul Thakur was declared the Player of the Match.
