(Cricket news) India’s star batter Kl Rahul’s availability for the Dharamshala test against England is still uncertain. Rahul has been out of action, with a quadriceps injury post the first test match at Hyderabad. He was named in the India’s squad for the last three test subject to his fitness, and did not feature in the 3rd and the 4th game at Rajkot and Ranchi respectively.
The fourth test is set to begin from the 7th of March. Rahul missed the 2nd test because of pain in the quadriceps, for which he underwent surgery last year. He was expected to be back by the start of the 3rd game and was also deemed 90% fit for the same. However, the BCCI and the management want to take no risk, given his importance to the side.
Ahead of the fourth Test, a BCCI release had stated, “KL Rahul is ruled out of the 4th Test. His participation in the final Test match in Dharamsala is subject to fitness.”
Given that India are 3-1 ahead, Rahul’s participation in the final test looks a bit dicey. He might well be rested from the last game as well. He is however expected to return in action in the IPL, were he’ll lead the Lucknow Super Giants. His performance in the league may well define his selection for the upcoming t20 World Cup which starts in June.
On the other hand Jasprit Bumrah, India’s vice-captain is expected to be back for the final test. He was rested from the Ranchi test in order to manage his workload. Bumrah has bowled more than 80 overs in the first three games, and given his importance to the side, the management decided to give him a break.
