(Football news) After two damning losses over Arsenal and Manchester City, Tottenham Hotspur really needed a win. Spurs narrowly edged past Fulham with a 1-0 win at Craven Cottage. Antonio Conte started with his standard 3-4-3 as Ben Davies came back into the line-up in place of Clement Lenglet. Emerson Royale was preferred over Matt Doherty. Richarlison was once again on the bench as Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Dejan Kulusevski started as the front three. Tottenham Hotspur had a nervy start to the game as they kept giving the ball away cheaply. Captain Hugo Lloris had to make a couple of saves early on as Fulham were getting closer to breaking the deadlock.

After initially being under pressure, Tottenham got hold of the game. They had a few good chances before scoring the first goal in first half’s injury time via Harry Kane. The England captain was set up by Heung-Min Son in what was his 266th goal for Tottenham Hotspur. He is now Tottenham’s joint all time top goalscorer along with Jimmy Greaves. Kane had another chance to break the record in the 57th minute but his header was saved by Bernd Leno. Fulham had a couple of really good chances towards the end to grab an equaliser but Tottenham Hotspur held their nerve and walked away with 3 points.

The performance wasn’t too impressive as they were lucky to win. The North London club is currently 5th on the Premier League table on 26 points. However Brighton are just 5 points behind with 2 games in hand. Antonio Conte is under a lot of pressure as according to reports he is set to leave at the end of the season. The Italian would like to pull off an upset by finishing in the top 4 before he leaves. Fulham on the other hand are doing well as they are 7th on the table.
