Zaka Ashraf resigns from the post of PCB chairman

(Cricket news) Zaka Ashraf, has stepped down as the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He announced his decision to resign after chairing a managing committee meeting in Lahore on Friday.

Ashraf had replaced Najam Sethi in July last year as the chairman, after a change in the political coalition ruling the country. Zaka was given an extension of three months last November to keep heading PCB’s Management Committee. He also had been the chairman of the PCB for the period of 2011-2013.

His tenure as a chairman was about to end this February. Sensing the inevitable Ashraf decided to bow down before he was removed from the post. His educational qualification is one of the reason being attributed to his sudden exit. He apparently has not completed his graduation. Many other reasons are also being linked to his resignation from the post.

Zaka Ashraf before stepping down listed out his achievement during his tenure as the PCB chairman. He highlighted the cross border visit of Roger Binny led BCCI team as one his important achievements during his time at the helm of PCB.

“In his concluding remarks, Mr Zaka Ashraf, thanked the honourable Patron PCB for the confidence and trust reposed by him and extended his best wishes and prayers for the betterment of Pakistan and Pakistan cricket,” a PCB statement said.
