Yashasvi Jaiswal makes history by breaking 15-Year IPL record

Yashasvi Jaiswal, the opening batsman for Rajasthan Royals, shattered an IPL record that had stood for 15 years against Punjab Kings

(Cricket news) Jaiswal, The 21-year-old, who is enjoying an incredible IPL season, scored 50 (36) runs in the Royals’ 188-run chase, shattering a fifteen-year-old IPL record in the process. In order to surpass the previous record for most runs as an uncapped player in an IPL season, Jaiswal needed 42 runs, and the left-hander slammed a half-century. Jaiswal may have been dismissed shortly after, but he ensured that he surpassed former Australian batsman Shaun Marsh on a list.

Marsh, who was a member of the Kings XI Punjab at the time, scored 616 runs in the first IPL season, including five fifty-plus scores and a century, after which he also took home the Orange Cap. Later that year, in June, Marsh made his ODI debut for Australia. Three years later, in 2011, he made his Test debut. For 15 years, Marsh was the record holder since no one even came near. Jaiswal, however, given his season, surpassed Ishan Kishan’s 516-run total from a long time ago and recorded a tremendous accomplishment in his honour in Dharamsala on May 19.

Jaiswal made a strong start to his innings in the previous game before being struck out for a duck. After a couple early boundaries, he didn’t receive much of the strike but made sure he stayed at the crease and later scored several significant boundaries to get another half-century. Jaiswal was supporting actor to Devdutt Padikkal as he went on to score 51 runs for the Royals and win them the game. The Royals would have preferred to chase it down one over earlier, but they accepted the victory nonetheless as Dhurv Jurel led them to win the game in the Final Over.
