World Cup winner Alexis Mac Allister is close to joining Liverpool next season

The World Cup winner has reportedly agreed personal terms with Liverpool as the move edges closer

(Football news) Alexis Mac Allister to Liverpool appears to be close as according to Fabrizio Romano. The journalist clarified that Mac Allister has already agreed personal terms with Liverpool as the negotiations between Brighton should not be an issue as the Argentine World Cup winner has a release clause which can be triggered this summer. Mac Allister is exactly the type of player Liverpool have to sign next season as many midfielders are leaving Liverpool next season so it won’t be a shock if Mac Allister becomes the first signing at Anfield.

Mac Allister’s current contract with the Seagulls is till 2025, reports from Argentine newspapers have indicated that the 24-year-old has a release clause of £60 million and has agreed a weekly wage of £100,000 on a five-year deal with Liverpool. The reported deal would also include a one-year extension option if he wants to and the transfer will make Mac Allister the fourth most expensive Argentine transfer of all time.

Chelsea were closely monitoring him along with a number of clubs interested in a move for the midfielder but the Reds look likely to beat a number of their Premier League teams for his signatures. Liverpool will experience a midfield exodus as the likes of James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita all confirmed last week that they will leave the club.

Meaning at present, Liverpool’s midfield has an aging Jordan Henderson (32), Thiago (32), Fabinho (29) as Mac Allister will look to bring in the much needed experience needed. Klopp’s rebuild in the midfield could include the likes of Mason Mount, Ryan Gravenberch and Matheus Nunes as they are the other names linked..The Reds hope they can get majority of the signings done before the transfer window.

All things considered, it looks as though Mac Allister may soon be rocking up at Anfield. “I said there is a fixed amount in the contract for Alexis Mac Allister, this is working like a release clause. Formally it is something they decided when he signed a new contract months ago. He can leave the club early in the window. This is why Liverpool want to be fast. The agreement on personal terms is 90% done, so Alexis Mac Allister is really, really close to Liverpool. This clause is helpful on the club side. Liverpool need to complete these details and then will be able to complete the deal,” Romano said.
