2022 World Cup: Group E set up for an exciting conclusion with Round of 16 spot at stake

2022 World Cup

(Football news) Group E will be the final group to be completed in the 2022 World Cup. Brazil have already secured qualification and they are almost guaranteed to finish in 1st place while Serbia, Cameroon and Switzerland can still make it to the World Cup- Round of 16. For Cameroon it will be very difficult because not only will they have to beat Brazil but also hope that the other result goes their way.

A win for Switzerland will take them through to the World Cup- Round of 16 while Serbia have to win and hope that Cameroon don’t win and even if they do their GD isn’t higher than them. If Serbia and Switzerland draw then Cameroon will have to beat Brazil by 2 goals or else Switzerland will qualify.

Since it is very difficult for Brazil to not finish first they will be looking to rest a few players. Dani Alves, Gleison Bremer, Fabinho, Everton Ribeiro and Pedro along with goalkeepers Ederson and Weverton haven’t played a single minute yet. Manager Tite is likely to give all his outfield players some game while he may choose to keep Allison in goal.

Neymar Jr and Danilo still haven’t recovered from their injuries and remain unavailable. Cameroon came back from 2 goals down to draw against Cameroon as they kept their hopes of qualification alive. Despite Brazil lining up with a weaker XI, Cameroon will have a tough task in hand. Their captain Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting will be key for them.

Serbia could’ve been in a much better position had they not let a 3-1 lead against Cameroon slip away. Switzerland on the other hand beat Cameroon in their first match. This promises to be an evenly matched contest between two sides. Alexander Mitrovic is undoubtedly Serbia’s most important player and he will be looking to cause the Swiss defense problems. Going the other way Xherdan Shaqiri will have to play well if Switzerland want to win the contest. The battle between Granit Xhaka and Sergej Milinković-Savić will be very important.
