Meanwhile, Tottenham progressed to second place with a 2-0 win over Leicester. Everton took advantage of Manchester City’s poor form by overtaking them into eighth place with a 3-0 win over Reading. The Toffees were ahead in the second minute with a goal from Anna Anvegard while Claire Emslie’s curler in the 38th minute doubled the scoreline. A fantastic freekick by Danielle Turner all but sealed three points for the visitors as Reading continued to be at the bottom of the Women’s Super League.
Manchester United progressed to fourth position in the Women’s Super League after a 2-0 win over Birmingham City at St. Andrew’s. Goals from Leah Galton in the 27th minute followed by a late goal by Ella Toone in the 80th minute secured all three points for the visitors who are now level on points with reigning champions Chelsea after the 6-1 thrashing by the Blues in the last match. Birmingham are off the bottom of the WSL on goal difference and their 16 game winless home streak is now a Women’s Super League record.
