Will Manchester City sell Jack Grealish?

Jack Grealish's departure from Manchester City during the summer transfer window is apparently something the club is willing to consider

(Football news) In 2021, Manchester City decided to pay a British record of £100 million to buy Grealish from his childhood club, Aston Villa. Grealish contributed significantly to the team’s 2022–23 treble-winning campaign, although his output hasn’t always matched his high price.

After making 116 appearances, the player has contributed 14 goals and 17 assists. The current campaign has been a major letdown. In 13 starts and three substitute appearances in the Premier League and Champions League, he has only managed three goals and one assist, and since the beginning of the year, injuries have limited his playing time.

Most notably, the England international has featured for just 702 minutes in the top flight this season, Grealish subsequently dropping down the pecking order. Manager Pep Guardiola has previously indicated that the 28-year-old has work to do in order to re-establish himself in the starting lineup, opportunities likely to materialise during a busy April period if he can shake off a groin issue.

Grealish could be one of the fall guys should Manchester City strengthen their squad as they wish to do so in the summer. The report suggests that there are concerns behind the scenes that Grealish has not developed under Grealish in the way that many had anticipated.

Given that Grealish is just six months into his six-year contract, Manchester City may have trouble getting a fair price. Due to the fact that Grealish is one of the club’s highest-paid players and will turn 29 in September, things will not get much better on that front.

Grealish is not listed as being wanted by any teams, but if a loan deal cannot be arranged, the teams that do show interest will probably have to shell for at least £40 million. Grealish last started a game for City on January 7, in the FA Cup against Huddersfield Town. He is expected to return to action following the international break.
