West Ham agree £10.1m deal with PSG for Thilo Kehrer

(Football news) Thilo Kehrer joined PSG from Schalke four years ago but since his arrival he hasn’t got a string of chances in the playing XI. Now he has just one year remaining on his contract as the 25-year-old defender will cost West Ham €12m (£10.1m) plus add-ons. The Hammers are set to sign their 6th player this summer transfer window after they signed Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes, Gianluca Scamacca and Maxwell Cornet

Kehrer arrives in London for a medical today as West Ham are hopeful of completing the deal in time for the 25-year-old before their Thursday night Europa Conference League qualifier against Danish club Viborg. Sevilla were interested in signing Kehrer as he entered the final year of his contract, but he prefered a move to the Premier League with West Ham. The 20 time capped Germany international joined PSG four years ago and has gone on to make 128 appearances for the French champions, with whom he went onto win six major domestic trophies.

Kehrer was an integral part of the Germany squad for this summer's Nations League fixtures, although he was not called up for Euro 2020 but in most likelihood he will make this year's World Cup squad. He is predominantly a centre-back but has featured as a full-back for club and country, while he can also operate as a wing-back and as a holding midfielder. While a deal for Kehrer appears to be close to being done, West Ham are also pursuing a move for Emerson from Chelsea. The clubs are in advanced talks over a deal worth £13m for the left-back, who has two years left on his Chelsea contract and spent a successful loan at Lyon last season

Emerson is currently behind Ben Chilwell, Marc Cucurella and Marcos Alonso in the pecking order for the left-wing-back berth at Stamford Bridge, while Alonso is reportedly set to join Barcelona this month, Emerson would soon follow in his footsteps. West Ham are also expected to return with an improved offer for Belgium international Hans Vanaken after Club Brugge rejected their opening bid for the midfielder. The Hammers' proposal for the 29-year-old Belgium international was thought to be in the region of €10m (£8.4m) but Club Brugge are holding on to a fee of €20m.
