(Football News) Wataru Endo from VfB Stuttgart has officially signed for Liverpool, solidifying the agreement with a long-term contract. The specifics of the financial arrangement have not been revealed, yet reports from British media suggest that Liverpool’s offer stood at approximately 16 million pounds ($20.33 million). Endo, aged 30, brings with him an impressive record of 50 international caps for Japan.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Endo conveyed in a statement, “I’m currently experiencing immense joy and anticipation as I become a part of Liverpool, a prominent and illustrious club. This moment is truly exhilarating, as it realizes a cherished aspiration of mine. Playing in the Premier League has always been a personal ambition, particularly with one of the globe’s most renowned clubs. This is a realization of my dreams.”
Detailing his playing style, Endo shared, “I typically operate as a number six, fulfilling a somewhat defensive role on the field. I firmly believe that my contributions will extend to enhancing the team’s defensive strategies and orchestrating the midfield effectively. Such responsibilities align with my role, and I am committed to fulfilling them.”
Following departures that significantly depleted their midfield, Liverpool has actively pursued reinforcement, resulting in the acquisition of Wataru Endo as their third addition during the current transfer window. Endo joins the ranks alongside Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai, marking the club’s strategic efforts to replenish their midfield resources.
Despite their earnest attempts, Liverpool faced setbacks in their pursuit of Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia, both of whom opted to commit to long-term contracts with Chelsea instead.
In their league debut, Liverpool secured a 1-1 draw against Chelsea. Their upcoming match is scheduled against Bournemouth on Saturday.
