(More-on-sports) U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee (USOPC) and U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Properties (USOPP), in association with the nation’s largest Internet provider and official Team USA Partner, Xfinity, and media rights holder NBCUniversal, today announced the launch of Making Team USA presented by Xfinity, a first-of-its-kind marketing and sponsorship platform created to spotlight athletes and invite fans to connect with Team USA on the journey to qualifying for the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

For the first time, fans will get unprecedented access to celebrate and understand athletes and their sports on their journey to Making Team USA, giving fans never-before-seen moments when an athlete’s life forever changes as they become a Team USA Olympian or Paralympian. Making Team USA presented by Xfinity aims to tell the untold qualification journey story, inclusive of all sports and athletes, and consisting of live events and competitions, including notable NBCU Trials coverage, athlete-led storytelling, behind-the-scenes content, gamification and other first-of-its-kind digital experiences on the newly launched TeamUSA.com to learn more about each athlete.

“Our fans are eager and excited to get to know and support more Team USA athletes on their dedicated journey to be the best in the world,” said Katie Bynum, Chief Strategy and Growth Officer at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee. “We will have more than 850 Team USA athletes representing 53 sports in the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris this summer, and Making Team USA presented by Xfinity will deepen this connection with fans by showcasing and celebrating these incredible athlete stories and the people and organizations that make these moments happen.”

This summer, top athletes from around the world will convene in the City of Light to compete at the Olympic and Paralympic Games Paris 2024. For athletes, it will be the culmination of years of hard work, countless hours spent honing their skills and a career filled with peaks and valleys leading to this momentous occasion. But before the 2024 Games, each athlete must qualify. Fans are now invited to join in this journey in lead up to and through the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Team USA Olympians and Paralympians will be one of, if not the biggest, delegation at the Paris Games this summer. Athletes will make the team via Olympic and Paralympic trials, qualifying competition events, and selection and training camps. Additionally, Xfinity will roll out its Xfinity Athlete Connections program ahead of Paris 2024, which will provide a “connections credit” to each athlete who qualifies for the 2024 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams to help support their access to the Internet at home or on the go via their mobile device. The program will keep Team USA athletes connected to what matters most to them during their pursuit of Olympic and Paralympic gold in Paris.

“Team USA doesn’t happen overnight and the opportunity to shine a spotlight on the journeys of these remarkable athletes was something that we couldn’t pass up,” said Jessica Muir, Senior Director of Xfinity Brand Partnerships and Amplification for Comcast. Our connectivity offerings, entertainment platforms and media businesses give us a unique ability to bring these stories to life, and our Xfinity Athlete Connections program will help to make this the most connected Team USA ever – before, during and after Paris 2024.”

“Team USA is one of the most decorated teams in Olympic and Paralympic history, and this partnership will help celebrate that rich history,” said Meghan O’Leary, Director of Commercial Development and Innovation at the United States Olympic & Paralympic Properties and two-time Olympian in rowing. “Simply becoming a Team USA Olympian or Paralympian is a monumental achievement. We’ve created a property that not only elevates that journey but also supports the athletes and NGBs who are a part of it.
