(Tennis news) Dominic Thiem and Andy Murray, both Grand Slam winners, were defeated by Stefanos Tsitsipas in five sets in order to advance to the third round. To advance to the fourth round, he had to defeat Laslo Djere.

In the first set, Stefanos Tsitsipas and Laslo Djere were evenly matched, but Djere eventually opened his eyes first. At 5-4, he served to stay in the set, but Tsitsipas broke it to win. In the second set, the Greek then found himself down 2-0. However, by winning the tie-break, he not only managed to tie the match but also won the set.

Tsitsipas was able to win the match 6-4, 7-6 (5), 6-4 with just one serve break in the third set. For the first time since 2018, he has finally progressed to the fourth round here.

After defeating home favourite Cameron Norrie, Christopher Eubanks upsets Thiago Monteiro in the second round. In the third round, he came up against Christopher O’Connell. Both Christopher Eubanks and Christopher O’Connell played pretty consistently on serve in the first set, with the exception of a single blip during one of their service games.

Through winning the tie-break, Eubanks was able to win the set. The second set, which was ultimately won by the American in the tie-break, saw neither player come close to a breakpoint. O’Connell saved a pair of match points on his own service at 6-5 in the third set, which also ended in a tie-break. The American prevailed once more in the tie-break to prevail 7-6 (5), 7-6 (3), and 7-6 (2).

Head-to-Head

Since this would be their first encounter, the head-to-head is currently tied at 0-0.

Predictions

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ victory over Laslo Djere was his first in straight sets in the competition. The Greek blasted 26 winners compared to 19 unforced errors, winning 82% of his first serve points.

Christopher Eubanks defeated O’Connell and advanced to the fourth round of a Major for the first time in his career with the help of another demonstration of a good serving performance. In each of his three matches so far, the American has hit at least 20 aces.

In order to earn some bonus points against Tsitsipas, Eubanks will also try to produce comparable results. Both players have a one-handed backhand, but the American is more proficient and frequently hits crisp winners with it.

Eubanks, who last week won the Mallorca Open, is currently on an eight-match winning streak. With momentum on his side, he can undoubtedly pull off another stunning victory. Tsitsipas has had some trouble thus far, so if the American doesn’t allow the situation to get to him, he might make strides in the right direction.
