(Badminton News) Tanisha Crasto’s exuberant enthusiasm sets her apart as one of the most dynamic and spirited talents in Indian badminton. However, this boundless energy, while a positive attribute, can occasionally lead to errors as she navigates the complexities of the sport and learns to temper her approach through experience, often learning from losses. Nevertheless, her partner, Ashwini Ponappa, appreciates Tanisha’s vibrant and energetic playing style, describing her as someone who is “brimming with fireworks.”

Having played for numerous years, Ashwini finds it refreshing to team up with someone who is genuinely excited to participate in significant matches and is determined to excel every day on the court. Reflecting on their recent achievements, including winning their third title in Guwahati after triumphs at the Nantes International Challenge and Abu Dhabi Masters earlier in the year, Ashwini emphasizes their strength as a pair lies in their capacity to learn and implement strategic plans.

In their latest victory, Ashwini and Tanisha defeated Chinese Taipei’s Sung Shuo Yun and Yu Chien Hui, securing a 21-13, 21-19 win. This accomplishment propels them to World No. 23, setting the stage for the Paris qualification race for India, where another pair, Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand, is also vying for a spot.

Despite a challenging second game in their latest match, the Indian duo maintained their composure, with Ashwini staying relaxed and Tanisha introducing fine variations mid-rally to secure the victory. Ashwini acknowledges that they are learning to navigate through challenges, both physical and emotional, as they continue to improve as a pair.

At 34, Ashwini recognizes the importance of paying close attention to her body’s needs. She emphasizes the significance of mindful eating, realizing that her dietary choices directly impact her physical and mental well-being. As she grows older, she acknowledges the need to be careful about what she consumes to support her demanding badminton schedule.

The partnership of Ashwini and Tanisha has not only showcased their on-court chemistry but also highlighted the importance of understanding each other off the court. They have faced financial challenges, traveling to tournaments at their own expense to accumulate ranking points. However, with the support of the Karnataka government, ONGC, and Victor, they have navigated these challenges.

Ashwini acknowledges the criticism that players often face on social media after losses, emphasizing the importance of mental health. She encourages players to prioritize their well-being and ignore negativity on social media platforms.

As the pair continues to climb the rankings, their journey involves joint efforts to understand each other better, strategic adjustments, and even enjoyable moments outside the badminton court. Ashwini appreciates Tanisha’s willingness to accompany her to an amusement park in Denmark, showcasing their camaraderie both on and off the court.
