Following Gujarat Titans’ thrilling win over Mumbai Indians on Tuesday, there has been a reshuffle in the IPL 2025 Orange Cap standings, while the Purple Cap leaderboard saw its first 20-wicket milestone.
Orange Cap Update
Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s Virat Kohli was sitting atop the run-scoring chart on Monday, but Tuesday’s action brought changes. MI’s Suryakumar Yadav took center stage first, scoring 35 off 24 balls, which moved his season tally to 510 runs — enough to claim the top spot from Kohli.
GT’s B Sai Sudharsan needed just seven runs to overtake Suryakumar but fell cheaply for 5. While that pushed him past Kohli into second place with 509 runs, he stayed just one run shy of the summit.
Sudharsan’s captain, Shubman Gill, is now third with 508 runs, thanks to a measured 43 off 46 balls. Kohli has slipped to fourth with 505 runs, while Jos Buttler rounds out the top five — and the 500-run club — after scoring 30 against MI to reach an even 500.
Purple Cap Update
On the bowling front, Gujarat Titans’ Prasidh Krishna has strengthened his grip on the Purple Cap. His 1 for 37 in the win over MI took him to 20 wickets — the first bowler to hit the mark this season.
Behind him, RCB’s Josh Hazlewood and MI’s Trent Boult share second place with 18 wickets each. Boult’s 2 for 22 kept him in close pursuit. Punjab Kings’ Arshdeep Singh and CSK’s Noor Ahmad follow with 16 wickets apiece, while several others are in touching distance with 15 or 14 wickets — all within range of breaking into the top tier with one strong performance.
