Suryakumar Yadav set to join MI, likely to play the next game

(Cricket News) The star Indian batter Suryakumar Yadav is all set to make a much awaited comeback after getting the fitness clearance from the NCA. He will most likely join the Mumbai Indians on April 5, ahead of their next game on the 7th April.

Surya, the No.1 T20I batter has been out of the game since December 2023. He last featured in a competitive game against South Africa where a scored a century in the Third T20I of the series. An ankle injury then kept him out of cricket and later he underwent a surgery for the same.

Post the injury to his ankle, Surya also suffered with sports hernia for which he underwent an operation. Hernia further delayed his comeback to cricket. He has been at the NCA for the past few months and was undergoing the rehabilitation. Surya had a fitness assessment pre-season as well, but he failed to get clearance that time around.

Surya’s addition would be a delight for the MI side as well the fans. Mumbai Indians has not had the best of the starts to season. They have lost 3 out of the 3 games and are placed right at the bottom of the table. Mumbai will now hope for Surya, who is arguably the best batter of the side to come good and help them with their first victory of the season.

Surya is expected to join the side for the practice session ahead of their next game on the 7th of April. Mumbai will play the Delhi Capitals, in an afternoon fixture at the Wankhede. They would hope for a change in their fortunes and will want to register their first win under the new skipper.
