Super Kings registers a dominating win over Royals in the Eliminator

(Cricket news) Joburg Super Kings dominated Paarl Royals in the Eliminator of the SA20 2024, registering a solid 9 wicket win. Cook, Burger, Leus Du Plooy and Du Plesis were the protagonist of the Super Kings victory, who ensured a comfortable win for their side.

Opting to bowl, it was Sam Cook and Burger who ran havoc, taking wickets upfront and reducing the Royals to 43/4 in the first 5 overs. A brief 44-run partnership between skipper Miller and Dane Vilas tried to steady the ship for the Royals, but once it got broken, it as a one-way traffic for the Super Kings. Paarl Royals were all-out for 138 runs in 18.5 overs.

Chasing a relatively small total, the JSK came out, all guns blazing. Leus Du Plooy once again delivered for the Kings as he got them off to a wonderful start and was accomapanied well by skipper Du Plesis. The openers stitched a 105-run partnership and ensured that their were no chances of a Royals’ comeback.

Du Plooy was dismissed for a well-made 68, by Shamsi, but Faf Du Plesis carried on and took Super Kings over the line with 6.4 overs to spare. Du Plesis ended up scoring 55 off 34 balls which included 3 maximums and 3 fours.

Super Kings will now face the Durban Super Giants in the 2nd Qualifier on Thursday
