Sunrisers rolls over Super Kings to confirm qualification

(Cricket news) Sunrisers Eastern Cape registered a dominating 9-wicket victory over the Joburg Super Kings in the SA20 on Wednesday. The victory confirmed a place in the playoffs for the Sunrisers. Super Kings, fresh off a crucial win against MI Cape Town, were shot out for just 78 as Sunrisers cruised to a comfortable victory.

Being put into bat, the Super Kings had a horror of a start losing 2 wickets in 2 consecutive deliveries in the very second over of the game. Leus De Plooy and Madsen tried to steady the ship over the next few over, but couldn’t sustain for long as the Super Kings suffered a stunning collapse.

The likes of Du Plessis, Hendricks and Moeen Ali were dismissed for ducks. Madsen was the only batter to put up a fight as he smashed 32 with the rest crumbling around him. Super Kings got bowled out in the 16th over of the innings, loosing their last 5 wickets for just 15 runs. Kruger and Worrall took 3 wickets each for the Sunrisers.

Chasing the total was more of a formality for the visitors, who quickly completed the game in just 11 overs to register a commanding victory. Hermann was the solitary wicket to fall for the Sunrisers.  Malan and Tom Abell helped the side get over the line with nine overs to spare.

Brief scores: Joburg Super Kings 78 in 15.2 overs (Wayne Madsen 32; Patrick Kruger 3/8, Daniel Worrall 3/20) Sunrisers Eastern Cape 79/1 in 11 overs (Dawid Malan 40*, Tom Abell 26*)
