(Football news) Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the name itself sparks excitement in the hearts of Manchester United fans worldwide. So when news broke about his three-day tour in India, hitting Bengaluru, Mumbai, and Delhi, I couldn’t miss the chance. Armed with a Platinum ticket for the Mumbai event, I was ready for a football adventure of a lifetime.

Tilak Gaurang Shah, the mastermind behind Ace of Pubs, made sure the event was nothing short of spectacular. Tickets? Exclusive on Zomato, offering three flavours – Diamond, Sapphire, and the mighty Platinum. As a die-hard fan, the Platinum pass was a no-brainer, costing me 40,000 rupees but promising a 40-minute chat with Solskjaer, a signed ’99 Champions League final jersey, a selfie with the legend, and a bag full of surprises.

The day arrived, and the ITC Grand Central in Mumbai was buzzing with energy. Surrounded by fellow Platinum ticket holders, the atmosphere felt like a football carnival. Solskjaer wasn’t just there to shake hands and pose for pictures; he was genuinely engaging with fans. I threw a question about his connection with Sir Alex Ferguson, and his response revealed a bond that goes beyond the pitch, a camaraderie among ex-players that stood the test of time.

Behind the scenes, founder and director of Legends7 Des Brewer, added another layer of magic. Chatting with Brewer, I learned about his surprise at the lively Indian turnout, especially the younger faces in the crowd. And then came the surprise – an invite to future UK events! The Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes event in May 2024 suddenly felt within reach, despite it being sold out.

But the excitement didn’t stop there. I crossed paths with football journalist Andy Mitten, the face behind United We Stand magazine. Sharing my journalism dreams, he handed me a signed magazine – a token of inspiration for my journey.

The event itself was a spectacle. Nitish Bharti’s sand art turned Solskjaer’s story into a visual masterpiece. An interview with a local father-son duo Steven and Jake, hosted by none other than Andy Mitten, added a personal touch to the evening. Singer Arish B serenaded the crowd, setting the stage for an unscripted interview with Solskjaer, hosted by none other than Tilak Gaurang Shah.

As the event wrapped up, a raffle winner was announced, and attendees headed for a gala dinner. For Manchester United fans like me, this was more than a chance to see a legend; it was an opportunity to be part of something extraordinary, a memory etched in the annals of my football journey.

Reflecting on those three days, one thing became clear – this wasn’t just an event; it was a pilgrimage for every fan present. The hope lingers that Solskjaer’s visit is a precursor to more exclusive encounters with football icons on Indian soil. In the heart of India, football found a new home, uniting fans in a shared passion that transcends boundaries.

As I look back on those unforgettable moments, I can’t help but feel grateful for the chance to be part of Solskjaer’s Indian tour. The football fever ignited during those three days continues to burn brightly, and I, along with countless other fans, eagerly await the next chapter in this remarkable football journey. Until then, the echoes of Solskjaer’s visit linger, a testament to the enduring power of football to bring people together, create memories, and turn dreams into reality.
