Sofiyan Amrabat hands injury concern to Manchester United

(Football news) Amrabat, a midfielder for Manchester United, is questionable for this weekend’s league matchup with his club because of an undisclosed injury that prevented him from playing against Liberia.

“We will not hide behind absences, because we knew about Amrabat’s absence before the start of the camp,’ Morocco manager Walid Regragui told reporters over the weekend.

“Amrabat can get injured at some point. We must find a solution and alternative, and we have players capable of filling the void that Sofyan will leave.”

It is unclear if Amrabat’s absence was because of a recent problem or a bothersome back injury, but Man United has not yet addressed the possibility.

When the 27-year-old speaks to the media on Friday ahead of the match against Sheffield United, Red Devils head coach Erik ten Hag is likely to be questioned about his availability.

Since joining Man United on loan from Fiorentina during the final hours of the summer transfer window, Amrabat has made five appearances for the team. He began in central midfield against Brentford prior to the international break, but he has played left back four times this season.

Amrabat’s back issue prevented him from playing earlier, and it’s thought that Man United was informed of it during his physical.

Casemiro sustained an ankle injury when playing for Brazil last week, giving the Red Devils yet another injury concern. However, he is expected to play in Tuesday’s match against Uruguay.

In their match this weekend against Sheffield United, who are now at the bottom of the table, Man United will be hoping for a lift from the return of defenders Raphael Varane and Sergio Reguilon.

Before choosing a starting lineup for the match against the Blades, head coach Erik ten Hag will need to evaluate the health of his returning players.

Nevertheless, injuries will undoubtedly prevent Lisandro Martinez, Tyrell Malacia, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Kobbie Mainoo, Luke Shaw, and Amad Diallo from playing.
