Should Shardul Thakur have played ahead of Jaydev Unadkat in the 2nd Test?

Shardul Thakur liked a few tweets which criticised the Indian coaching staff for playing Jaydev Unadkat ahead of him

(Cricket news) In the first Test against Bangladesh, Kuldeep Yadav was named Player of the Match for his excellent performance with both bat and ball. Despite that in the next Test match he was dropped because the pitch was better suited for 3 seamers. Jaydev Unadkat was brought into the side. The decision caused a lot of stir but it proved to be the right one as Unadkat picked up 3 crucial wickets. What went under the radar amidst all this was that the management played Unadkat who had just been added to the squad as a cover for the injured Mohammed Shami ahead of Shardul Thakur.

Shardul Thakur has been a regular member of the Teat side since he stepped up at the Gabba Test after an injury crisis. He has since then produced great performances in South Africa and England. Shardul was definitely ahead of Unadkat in the pecking order and it is expected for him to be annoyed with the call. However he usually plays when India needs some batting ability to play at number 8. This time around India needed a potent bowler with a little more pace which is why they went with Unadkat.

Shardul Thakur reacted to the disappointment by liking the above tweets which criticised the management of doing politics and getting influenced by outside noise. It is pretty clear that he is hurt by the decision but his reaction cannot be justified. If it comes to light then it may cause him to be suspended or dropped from the team. Now India have two white ball series against Sri Lanka and New Zealand before the Test series against Australia. It will be interesting to see how much Shardul Thakur plays in the future and if he uses this set back as a fuel.
