(Football news) A week ago when Real Madrid won the UEFA Super Cup, it looked like everything was going well. Coach Carlo Ancelotti and President Florentino Perez said on multiple occasions that there will be no more additions to the squad. Things have suddenly changed in the past few days as every report suggests that Casemiro will be joining Real Madrid. Los Blancos will get around €70m including add ons from Manchester United which brings up the question as to whether Real Madrid will look to sign a replacement for the Brazilian. Technically, Aurélien Tchouaméni is a direct replacement for Casemiro but there is a spot open in the squad. Real Madrid have already sent Castilla midfielder Antonio Blanco who was once touted to be Casemiro's heir.
After Casemiro leaves, Real Madrid will have Toni Kroos, Luka Modric, Eduardo Camavinga, Fede Valverde, Aurélien Tchouaméni and Dani Ceballos as midfield options along with Marco Asensio and David Alaba who can also play in midfield. There are contrasting reports about Real Madrid's hunt for another midfielder. There are not many days left in the window and a panic signing right now isn't necessarily the answer for Real Madrid. Next season, Luka Modric and Toni Kroos are out of a contract and it is still unclear whether they will be extending their deals, therefore there needs to be a revamp. Real Madrid could also decide to wait for the winter transfer window which is likely to be different this time due to the World Cup break.
The one name that has been linked with Real Madrid is Bruno Guimaraes . The Merengues are reportedly interested in the Newcastle midfielder who has a Spanish passport which makes things easier for the Los Blancos as they don't have a non-European spot in the squad. The deal will be extremely difficult as the Brazilian is extremely important for Newcastle and they have no intention of selling him. The midfielder joined the club in January and has 4 years left on his contract and the transfer, if it was to go through, will cost Real Madrid a lot of money. Real Madrid's next match is away against Celta Vigo and Casemiro is unlikely to play in that game.
