(Football news) Potential Manchester United owner Sheikh Jassim Bin Hamad Al Thani will make a second bid for the club within 10 days after his representatives visit Old Trafford and the Carrington training ground. According to various sources, there is no doubt that Sheikh Jassim wants to become owner and custodian of Manchester United and his Qatari delegation held positive and constructive talks for about 10 hours, a lot longer than originally anticipated. One of the objectives of the visit was to analyse the state of infrastructure, youth development and the women’s team.
Sheikh Jassim was not present at Old Trafford because he believed it was too early in the process and didn’t want to be there just for a photo opportunity. However, he sent a strong delegation of experts involved in finance, banking, property and law, thereby showing that he is genuinely interested in buying the club. However, it is clear that the Qatari royal is not keen on overpaying for the club despite the fact that the Glazers are expecting around £6bn. Rumours have emerged that his first bid was for £4.5bn, which was good enough for the Glazers to invite his delegation to visit the club’s facilities.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe along with his INEOS representatives are also visiting Old Trafford on Friday before making a second bid for the club. The takeover is being overseen by the Raine Group who are hoping for a bidding war between the two parties to drive the price up. It’s still unclear if the Glazers are willing to sell the club with Elliott Management also in the picture, who are a US hedge fund who are not interested in buying the club but are willing to help finance a potential deal for interested parties and were in attendance at Old Trafford for the game against Real Betis.
