(Cricket News) Prithvi Shaw has been declared unfit for the remainder of his time with Northamptonshire due to a knee injury sustained during fielding against Durham. In the match that took place on August 13, Shaw’s exceptional performance included an undefeated score of 125 from 76 deliveries, aiding Northamptonshire in achieving a comfortable six-wicket victory.

In a recent media release, Northamptonshire communicated, “Prithvi injured his knee while fielding in the fixture against Durham and subsequent scan results received this morning have revealed the injury is worse than initially expected.”

In the One-Day Cup 2023, Shaw, who is 23 years old, left a strong impact while playing for the Steelbacks. He managed to accumulate an impressive total of 429 runs across four innings.

Among his noteworthy performances was a remarkable display where he scored a massive 244 runs from 153 balls against Somerset on August 9th. This outstanding innings played a crucial role in Northants securing a victory by 87 runs.

Expressing his sentiments, John Sadler, the head coach of Northamptonshire, conveyed his deep disappointment in having to part ways with a talent like Shaw.

“During his brief time here, Prithvi has left a significant mark on our club. It’s truly unfortunate that he won’t be continuing with us for the rest of this tournament,” expressed Sadler.

Sadler also highlighted how Shaw’s influence extended beyond his on-field performances.

“In addition to his achievements on the pitch, he played a vital role in our dressing room dynamics. His unwavering commitment to winning games was palpable, and he played a contributing role in our successes.”

“We extend our best wishes to him and look forward to witnessing him score runs once more,” he added.
