A day after the "timed out" incident scandal, Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan was ruled out of his team's final World Cup match with an injury.
Injury Update: Bangladesh's Shakib Al Hasan Ruled.

Bangladesh is scheduled to play Australia in their final World Cup encounter, but Shakib is not expected to play because of a fractured left index finger. Bangladesh is still in the running for a spot in the 2025 Champions Trophy, even though their chances of making it to the ODI World Cup semifinals have already diminished.

It’s unclear how long Shakib will be out due to injuries. However, his unavailability will undoubtedly affect Bangladesh’s future opportunities. On the other hand, Australia is well-positioned to make it to the semifinals. Bangladesh’s victory over Sri Lanka maintains their hopes of finishing in the top 7.

The pursuit of 280 runs was accomplished thanks in large part to Captain Shakib’s 82 and his 2 wickets in addition to Najmul Hossain Shanto’s 90. A ‘timed out’ controversy, however, overshadowed the game.

The fact that Angelo Mathews was the first player in international cricket history to be removed from the game because of a timed-out judgement was a key turning point in the fierce rivalry between the two teams.

After Sadeera Samarawickrama was out on Shakib’s second delivery in the 25th over, Angelo Mathews came to the crease. Bangladesh had to file an appeal because of the delay caused by a broken helmet strap. The umpires upheld the appeal in spite of Mathews appeals.
