Sevilla play AS Roma in the final of UEFA Europa League

In the Europa League, Roma will play six-time champion Sevilla with the goal of winning their second European championship in as many seasons

(Football news) Sevilla has had a patchy season, and their struggles in the Laliga this year have prevented them from finishing in the top half of the rankings. The Europa League, which they have won a record six occasions, hasn’t let their league shortcomings slow them down.

In addition to winning a trophy for the seventh time in their history, Los Rojiblancos hope to go to the Champions League next season, which will strengthen their financial situation. Following the firings of Jorge Sampaoli and Julen Lopetegui, Jose Luis Mendilibar has taken over as Sevilla’s third coach for the current campaign. The Andalucians battled to avoid the drop zone under the previous two managers, but under Mendilibar, they have only lost twice, with their most recent being against Real Madrid at home on the previous matchday.

Roma, however, comes into this game off a discouraging 2-1 loss to Conference League champions Fiorentina in Serie A. They have only achieved two victories in their previous nine contests across all competitions, and they have lost their last four games.

Even though the Giallorossi appear to be on track to go to the Europa League group stages for the upcoming campaign, they won’t be able to qualify for the Champions League through league position as the top-four teams in Serie A have already been determined. The only way for Jose Mourinho to send his team to the biggest competition in Europe is for them to win the Europa League.

Roma’s journey to the championship game has been a thrilling one, and credit for sweating out games where the opposition has looked fierce in attack belongs to their defence. Jose Mourinho has perfected the defence when playing in Europe, from defending their two-goal advantage in the 2nd leg against Real Sociedad to guarding the goal in mass against When the German side attempted to tie the match on aggregate against Bayer Leverkusen in the semi-finals’ second leg, they were unsuccessful.

According to reports, Jose Mourinho’s tenure at Roma may soon come to an end, but that won’t change the Portuguese genius’s standards. He plans to use his limited resources to capture two consecutive European awards in order to make history for the Roma people.
