(Football news) 64-year-old Luciano Spalletti led Napoli to its first Serie A championship in 33 years during his second year there. With five rounds remaining, they prevailed. After Spalletti’s final game with Napoli, which will be on 4th June, Sunday against Sampdoria, the squad will be awarded the Serie A trophy, which would be the club’s third in history after Diego Maradona guided it to the 1987 and 1990 championships.

After Antonio Conte left Inter Milan following the 2021 title, Spalletti is the second coach in three years to depart a team that has just won the league. Cristiano Giuntoli, the sports director of Napoli who rebuilt the team by bringing in Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Kim Min-jae, is also going and may join rival Juventus. After having previously managed Roma and Inter Milan and won the Russian league with Zenit St. Petersburg, the Serie A championship was the one significant trophy lacking from Spalletti’s career.
