(Motorsports news) After making his F1 debut in 2007 with a lone BMW appearance in America before switching to Toro Rosso for the remaining part of the year, Vettel announced his retirement from the sport at the conclusion of the 2022 season.
Sebastian Vettel commented there has been “lots of interest” in giving him a job within F1 and isn’t ruling out a future engagement in promoting environmental problems while speaking at the Goodwood Festival of Speed last weekend. However, he is currently enjoying time with his family and is not on a strict schedule.
When questioned about his plans for the F1 future, Vettel responded, “We’ll see, but I have some ideas.” “I visited Monaco earlier this year, and Stefano (Domenicali) and I had a wonderful meeting. “F1 has a significant duty since it’s a really big event, aside from the vehicles obviously immediately harming the environment. I believe there were over 500,000 attendees at the British Grand Prix last weekend.
There is clearly much more to it than simply automobiles, but everyone is aware of them. It’s crucial that it’s going in the appropriate way as well. I’m talking, though, and I have some thoughts. Of course, we’ll have to wait and see what the future holds.
Sebastian Vettel when asked if he had received many intriguing employment offers, responded, “There is a lot of interest from all aspects. But last year, I told myself that I wanted to be free. And I first turn down a lot of requests because I want to get to know this version of myself that is somewhat unsure of what to do, doesn’t have a set schedule, and is open to exploring new ideas and finding inspiration.
“I’m still traveling in that direction. I spend a lot of time with my children, and we’ve traveled a little bit in a van. I therefore enjoy that. But I’m also aware that I won’t be living my children’s lives. It won’t be my main responsibility. Despite my desire to support them. But eventually, I’ll probably learn how to accept a new challenge.
Sebastian Vettel spoke, When asked when he first became interested in environmental issues, Vettel, who used synthetic fuel in the Williams FW14B and McLaren MP4/8 he drove at Goodwood as part of his Race Without Trace project, explained how it came about in the context of his own career.
“I would say probably not early enough,” he replied. I certainly heard about it when I was younger, and the issue was undoubtedly present at that time. But now that everyone is aware of it, we are finding that we are powerless to escape from or outrun it. “It’s difficult to say whether it affected how I performed. Racing makes it difficult to imagine things.
“I would definitely say no, but if it happened, I wouldn’t regret it since, in my opinion, there are things in this world that are undoubtedly much more significant than a certain lap time and position on a given day.
“Even if racing is my life and, on that particular day, there is probably nothing more important to me, there is a far greater interest to all of us and to our planet than whether I qualify a little higher or slightly lower. “When you put things in perspective, what happens in F1 and on the racetrack probably doesn’t matter at all, “Vettel concluded.
