(Football News) Tottenham Hotspur’s manager, Ange Postecoglou, is standing firmly behind forward Richarlison, expressing his belief that the Richarlison will start scoring consistently this season, even in light of his initial struggles in front of the goal during the current campaign.

Richarlison, who made his move from Everton to Spurs in July of the prior year, boasting a record of three goals and four assists in 37 appearances across all competitions, has yet to find the back of the net in the ongoing season.

The 26-year-old’s transfer reportedly amounted to around 50 million pounds ($60 million), with an additional 10 million pounds in potential add-ons, according to British media sources.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Saturday’s match against Bournemouth, Postecoglou stated, “I am sure Richy wants to score goals, but far more important for me is how he is contributing to our team set-up, and I thought he was good last weekend. From my perspective, that is the key thing, and I am sure the goals will come, but there is no point getting the goals if the team is not performing.”

Following the departure of Harry Kane, the club’s iconic figure and record goal-scorer, to Bayern Munich at the start of the new season, Richarlison is expected to step up at Spurs, assuming a more prominent role in the wake of the English captain’s exit.

Postecoglou addressed this shift, noting, “I don’t know that there’s that much of a burden there to carry. Ultimately, this football club needed to change. I think everyone at the club has come to terms with Harry’s departure. He’s moved on to a new challenge, and I am certain he will excel there. Now, we have our own challenges. There’s little value in comparing oneself to something that’s no longer present and relevant. It would be a different story if it were amid a successful era.”

Although Postecoglou has only managed two Premier League matches at the helm of Spurs, the Australian manager has already succeeded in dispelling the gloom that enveloped the North London club upon his arrival from Celtic in the Scottish Premiership. Spurs have secured a 2-0 victory against Manchester United and followed it up with a 2-2 draw against Brentford. Postecoglou is determined to build upon last season’s eighth-place finish.
