Ricciardo: The AlphaTauri is no longer a junior Formula One team

With two seasoned drivers and a fresh look going into 2024, Daniel Ricciardo claims that his AlphaTauri Formula 1 team is "not a junior team anymore."

(Motorsports news) Since the team’s inaugural season as Toro Rosso in 2006, Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda comprise the most seasoned driver lineup. With CEO Peter Bayer and team principal Laurent Mekies leading the Faenza organization, owner Red Bull has reiterated its dedication to advancing the organization up the grid.

When the FIA releases the official entry list for the World Championship in the following days, a new name and title sponsorship package will be made available to the public. Ricciardo remarked, “I think we’re headed in the right direction.” And to be really honest, I think the staff has taken action or tried their hardest to make everything work based on what I brought to their attention, Ricciardo remarked.

I really can’t ask for too much more right now, though. Now, it’s evident how rapidly we can install new parts on the vehicle and other things. “I don’t mean to sound condescending, but their heads are in the right places,” I would add. We all seem to be looking ahead and kind of meeting at the perfect location, in my opinion. They seem dedicated, and I believe they value my experience, which is something I believe is incredibly crucial for moving forward.

This team doesn’t seem like a junior squad anymore. Furthermore, I believe that with a lot of ideas for the upcoming season, maybe we can stay on course and get more points than in the last few races.” Being part of the team’s new identity, which includes new American sponsors, Ricciardo is optimistic about the improvements the organization is going through.

“It’s really exciting that I feel like there’s a lot coming back in,” he remarked. Similar to how I’ve gone through this stage of my career, I believe that another team is in the process of rebuilding. Thus, our paths are quite similar. There seems to be a great deal of confidence, in my opinion. Additionally, I believe that Yuki showed a lot of maturity and self-provement during that season.

Furthermore, I believe that the team still has a great deal of faith in me and views my performance as a Red Bull driver rather than as a McLaren driver! Therefore, everyone is doing well.” In the race for seventh place in the 2023 World Championship, the team narrowly lost to Williams, but Ricciardo thinks considering where they were at the beginning of the year, it wasn’t too bad of a setback.

He admitted, “I was obviously not on board for the first part of the season.” “Yuki and I may have pushed each other a little bit, but the way the team turned things around and the updates were helpful for the team.” Thus, I believe the club has a lot to look forward to in the upcoming season. Naturally, seventh place would be good, but we were discussing not placing in the top ten a few races ago.

Therefore, the seventh was a bonus in a way. We have a little bit more to fight for the following year as a result.”
