(Football news) Remo Freuler is pushing for a move to Nottingham Forest from Atalanta as an agreement has now been found between the two clubs. Forest boss Steve Cooper wants to add a more experienced midfielder to his squad at the City Ground and the Tricky Trees have been in deep discussion with Atalanta regarding the experienced Swiss midfielder. Now the two clubs have found an agreement and Freuler’s will to make the move to Nottingham Forest has proven to be decisive in this deal.
The midfielder has pushed through the switch as he wanted to play in the Premier League as he has been mulling over the switch. Forest will reportedly fork out €9m plus add-ons to sign the Swiss star. Freuler will become the latest recruit at the City Ground in a summer of heavy spending for the new boys in the Premier League.The 30-year-old came through the youth ranks at Swiss clubs Winterthur and Grasshoppers. He switched to Atalanta from Swiss club Luzern in 2016 and since then he has been a key player at the Italian side in recent years.
Freuler had recently signed a new contract with Atalanta in May 2022 which would have run until 2025. The player turned down the transfer to Nottingham Forest initially but the situation changed. He first joined La Dea in January 2016 from FC Luzern and as part of that €2.1m deal, the Swiss will get a 15% cut of the future transfer fee. In total, Freuler made 259 appearances for Atalanta, contributing 20 goals and 23 assists. Nottingham Forest have just earned promotion this season and have been spending big this summer transfer window, bringing in the likes of Neco Williams from Liverpool, Jesse Lingard and Dean Henderson from Manchester United, plus Orel Mangala, Taiwo Awoniyi, Moussa Niakhate and Omar Richards from the Bundesliga.
