Regragui on Yamal: Talent & Trials

The stage is set for an exciting adventure as Morocco’s national football team’s head coach, Walid Regragui, highlighted Lamine Yamal’s extraordinary talent during his recent appearance on the Spanish program “El Chiringuito.”  He said that although Yamal has amazing attributes, he feels more of a connection to Spanish football than Moroccan football, which is why he chose not to join the Lions of the Atlas.

With an unbreakable resolve to win on home soil, Morocco’s Lions of the Atlas are preparing for the 2018 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with great anticipation.  During his participation on the show, coach Walid Regragui stressed this goal and the importance of the event, which commemorates their first victory in 1976, which was over 50 years ago.

“We will all push ourselves to win the upcoming Africa Cup,” Regragui declared with assurance.  He emphasized that winning this championship at home with Moroccan fans is crucial for the country as a whole, not just the national team.

The coach expressed confidence in his team’s capacity to win a continental championship for Morocco again, praising their caliber and maturity.  “I am committed to winning the upcoming Africa Cup because Morocco, a nation that is known for its football, is deserving of it.  Moroccan supporters have an incredible amount of passion for the game and the continental championship.  Supporters never go a day without saying that they want this to be a success,” he claimed.

Regragui expressed his wish for the 2030 World Cup final to take place in Morocco, which is being co-hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.  This vision represents the high aspirations stoked by the Lions of the Atlas’ remarkable and historic World Cup journey.  The program examined Regragui’s lengthy football career as a player and coach, as well as Morocco’s incredible achievement at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.

Along with his duties with the national squad, Regragui shared his thoughts on the evolution of European football and its future prospects in the UEFA Champions League.
