(Motorsports news) The Milton Keynes-based team, Red Bull just had a very successful 2023 season in which it won every race except one and won the constructors’ and drivers’ titles with Max Verstappen. Notwithstanding the magnitude of its unprecedented achievements, the squad is determined to maintain its competitive edge for the upcoming season and is working diligently to secure additional advantages during the off-season.
Additionally, there have been rumors that the RB20 will have a radical redesign from the current car due to its early development suspension this season, which let the company to focus on its next project. World champion Max Verstappen said at the FIA Prize Gala in Baku that although the RB19 was excellent, there were still a few very obvious areas for improvement.
“There are always things that we can do better, but I don’t think you can talk about percentages or whatever,” he remarked. Although the Red Bull car has demonstrated extreme dominance, there are a few areas where I believe we may improve. And Red Bull is focusing on it for the upcoming year. Red Bull’s competitors may have a chance to catch up if there are no significant regulation changes until 2024, according to team manager Christian Horner, which is why the company was pushing for the RB19 to be improved so much.
“We know that the field will converge with stable regulations,” he stated. We’ve observed that on a few occasions throughout the previous 12 months. Therefore, we need to keep getting better and evolving. “I believe every facet of RB19 is being examined in order to transform it into RB20 and, ideally, make it even more potent, as I’m sure our rivals will be attempting to do as well.”
Red Bull and Verstappen are aware that it will be nearly impossible to quantify this year’s accomplishments, and that it might not be possible to do so in the long run. The team believes that it can still feel like it performed better even if it doesn’t win 20 more races in 2024. “Realistically, of course, it can’t be much better than what we have achieved,” stated Verstappen. However, I don’t believe that striving to win 20 races is the only goal.
Additionally, it’s about merely attempting to make both the car and yourself better. It’s also acceptable if it implies that by the next season, we will have upgraded the vehicle and be able to challenge for the championship, even if you only win ten races. In addition, the competition in our immediate vicinity has fluctuated a lot. This team did it one weekend, and another team did it the next. As a result, I anticipate that next year will see a lot of education on the new law and that it will really be much closer.
